The Perry’s Foundation Scholarship Program

The Perry’s Foundation will offer scholarships to eligible students located in Olney, TX who meet the requirements. Scholarship awards are based on the availability of funds and the number of scholarship applications received.

• Who Can Apply: Nonprofit organizations with a 501c3 exemption. Contact the foundation for consideration of special requests.
• Geographic Focus: Olney, TX, and communities within a 50-mile radius in North Texas

Who Can Apply?

• Age Requirement: Applicants must be 17-19 years old and classified as graduating seniors.
• Geographic Requirement: Open to students residing in Olney, TX and areas within a 50-mile radius with first preference to students in Olney, TX.
• Income Consideration: All applications are welcome, but priority will be given to those demonstrating the highest financial need.
• Academic Requirement: A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale is required.
• Eligible Institutions: Applicants must intend to enroll in an accredited four-year college or university or a trade school.
• Preferred Majors: First preference is given to students majoring in Journalism or Mass Communication. Other majors may also be considered.
• The application submission period is January – March. The application period closes at the end of March, and students and/or advisors will be notified by the end of April.

Ineligible Applicants

Family members of The Perry’s Foundation Board of Directors and Scholarship Selection Committee are not eligible to apply. All committee members will confirm and document their relationship status with applicants.

All scholarship funds will be disbursed directly to the student with proof of enrollment.

Allowable Uses of Scholarship Funds

Scholarship funds can be applied to the following educational expenses, up to the maximum award amount:
• Tuition
• Books
• Registration fees
• Transportation
• Supplies
• Meal plan supplements
• Laboratory fees

Selection and Review Process

1. After the application period closes at the end of March, the executive director will verify that each applicant meets the basic eligibility requirements.
2. Eligible applications will be forwarded to the scholarship selection committee for comprehensive review.
3. The selection committee, consisting of board members and potentially education professionals, will evaluate essays and documentation to select recipients.
4. Decisions require unanimous approval by The Perry’s Foundation Board of Directors.
5. Priority consideration is given to those with the greatest financial need.
6. All applications are processed in the order received at the end of the application period.
